I am presently considering a complete knee replacement and have been informed that the implant only comes with a cobalt containing alloy.How much danger is there of increasing my serum cobalt concentration that appears stable at about 20ng/ml for the last several years.I previously had an Dupuy/asr hip replaced with a Zimmer cobalt containing femoral head?
That’s not something I can comment on with authority. However, as a lay person, it seems very logical that it may will increase your metal ion levels if the articulating surfaces are cobalt chrome and rub against each other. I understood there were other knee options out there which are ceramic or oxynium?
