I had a revision hip operation last summer because of the large metal on metal hip I had done in 2005. A cobalt filled cyst had eaten away the muscle round the joint. I was very lucky to get a marvellous surgeon who did a superb job. He referred me to a solicitor in London to gain compensation. this was a no win no fee solicitor. Having filled in copious forms and waitied for some months I was then told I didn’t qualify because my date of knowledge was outside their three year deadline. I tried another solicitor well known in this field of medical negligence and they said they could do nothing for me. When I asked them the reason for this they replied that my case was too complex. If anyone has any advice of whom I could ask for help in this matter I’d be most grateful.

Hi Kathleen
When was it replaced? If it was in only for a short time then the metal build up would be small probably.

First op was in Feb 2015 and was replaced in November2015 with another MOM. I was not aware of any if these problems or I would have been asking more questions.

OK – them the MoM will be a problem sometime in the future. What brand?
Nerve damage is a problem with revisions. I had nerve damage which took a year to come right.
