Answers some of my questions about high cobalt levels 5 years after revision.
Is there any information on chromium toxicity? My cobalt level is now WNL but chromium remains 17x higher than normal 5 years post revision.
Not that I am aware of – this chromium ion isn’t the really bad one.
The replacement joint, which was known as the Low Friction Arthroplasty,
was lubricated with synovial fluid. The small femoral head was chosen for Charnley’s belief that it would have lower friction against the acetabular component and thus wear out the acetabulum more slowly.
