Zimmer Hip Replacement Lawsuit Alleges Serious Pain
In a complaint filed by the Zimmer hip lawyer for Plaintiff Roberta Sprague, allegations that Zimmer’s Durom Cup failed to fuse to the hip bone, popped loose and rubbed against the Plaintiff’s bone form the basis of another Zimmer hip replacement lawsuit. According to Sprague’s Zimmer hip lawyer, the slippage caused the plaintiff like other alleged victims of Zimmer hip problems serious pain, leaving her unable to walk without assistance.
The plaintiff’s Zimmer hip replacement lawsuit was filed on November 22, 2011 in the United States District Court, District of Arizona. Sprague’s Zimmer hip lawyer claims that despite numerous notifications of Zimmer hip problems, the company continued to sell the Durom Cup, even after it temporarily suspended sales in 2008 to investigate reports of loosening and early failure.
Zimmer hip replacement lawsuit claims two-year failure
According to her Zimmer hip lawyer, plaintiff Sprague received the Zimmer Durom cup hip implant on November 30, 2009. Sprague claims in her Zimmer hip replacement lawsuit that she and her physician expected it would provide her with better stability and range of motion than other similar hip devices on the market. After the surgery, however, Sprague suffered extreme physical pain, according to her Zimmer hip lawyer, including leg and hip pain that hindered her ability to get up from a seated position, walk, and sit back down.
As a result of her Zimmer hip problems, Sprague had to go through numerous physical therapy sessions and underwent extensive tests in an effort to correct the pain. Sprague’s Zimmer hip lawyer states in her Zimmer hip replacement lawsuit that she sought a second opinion, and that a second surgeon noted signs in her x-rays that the Durom Cup had failed.
Zimmer hip lawyer also alleges metal poisoning
In addition to the alleged early implant failure, Sprague and her Zimmer hip lawyer claim that according to blood tests taken on June 24, 2011, Sprague had high levels of cobalt and chromium in her blood, indicating metal poisoning. In the complaint for her Zimmer hip replacement lawsuit, Sprague contends that her tissues and blood became contaminated with tiny shards as the metal components of the Zimmer hip wore against one another.
Sprague’s Zimmer hip lawyer reports that following these findings, she underwent revision surgery on August 25, 2011, during which her surgeon discovered a “grossly loose Durom cup that was easily removed by hand,” according to her Zimmer hip replacement lawsuit. The underlying bone was deemed “sclerotic,” or hardened and damaged.
Sprague and her Zimmer hip lawyer are seeking in excess of $75,000 in damages for her medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
