Hi Paul

this use for antidepressants is quite well documented and I can personally tell you that they help - firsthand experience as I have been on antidepressants for a few years. Recently I decided to come of them and as I have a peripheral neuropathy in my right foot, I have a particular pain which is helped a lot by antidepressants - as I discovered when I wasn't taking them. Having now resumed with a different antidepressant, the pain is a lot less. Painful feet are right up there with hip pain I can tell you. As my left hip only has about 1/3rd of its cartilage left, I have a good reference point for different types of pain at present. Actually more reference points than I really want!

This is very interesting.
At my recent visit to the Pain Management Clinic at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, they discussed the use of anti depressents in low doses to treat my pain.

I expressed my concern about taking anti depressents as someone who does not have depression. Since these drugs have their own set of side effects. But they assured me it would be fine.
I am yet to start this line of medication, so cannot comment at pressent.
