Metalosis

Metal poisoning is a condition which results from toxic accumulation of metals on the soft tissues of the body. Mercury, lead, aluminum, antimony, arsenic, bismuth, cadmium, chromium, cobalt, copper, silver, zinc and tin are some of the steel known to exist. We encounter metals in almost anything everyday.Even the soil we trod upon is ridden with different types of metals. We come into contact with steel in industrial work, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and agriculture.

Even the soil we trod upon is ridden with different types of metals. Appliances, furniture and pharmaceutical products are usually made of some parts of iron. It is important to know about heavy metals and what are the symptoms of heavy metal poisoning.

Although some metals like zinc, copper, chromium, iron and manganese are essential for our bodily functions, our body only needs the following metal in small amounts that is why when there is toxic accumulation of any of these metals, metallosis results. Some metals known to cause metallosis are lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium. The most common cause of metal toxicity, though, is occupational hazard.

Heavy metal toxicity is a serious condition that requires speedy medical interventions that is why if you observe you or someone you know to have any signs and symptoms of metal poisoning, bring that person directly to the emergency department of the nearest hospital. When metallosis is not immediately treated, complication such as shock, anemia and kidney failure could arise. Blood tests, urine tests, hair and tissue analysis and x-ray are some of the diagnostic exams done to detect heavy metal toxicity.

There are many medical managements used for heavy metal poisoning and one of this is chelation therapy. Since iron readily enter the body through food, water, air, absorption through the skin and in some cases, through hip replacement devices such as in metal-on-metal prostheses, prompt action must be done before irreparable damage to vital organs occur.

A hip replacement recall was issued for those faulty hip replacement products. You can search for more information in some sites related to this case.
